NPrinting Licence --> Was there a change of Licence policy from Version 16 to 17?

Dear all,

we used so far QV together with NPrinting 16. Now we are changing to QS with NPrinting 18.

For us it's a surprise that with the usage of NPrinting 18 the Licence is limited to 2 Developers and 250 receipients.

We never heard about this limitations for NPrinting 16 (But to be honest in the past we never reached this limits). But we would like to use Qlik more in our company and therefor we need more then 2 Developers for the first time.

I doublechecked our contract and also NPrinting 16 settings, but I can't find anything that NPrinting 16 has these limitations. Our Qlik Partner said to us, that also NPrinting 16 had have 2 different licence models. Is this true?

Hi,

Qlik NPrinting 17+ (all 17, 18 and 19 versions) has a SMB Small Business edition license that is cheaper and has the two limitations you mentioned. It is for small companies.

There is a Server license more expensive but without any limitation. Maybe you need this, so contact your Qlik sales person to evaluate.

It is a think of many years ago, but I remember that also QlikView NPrinting 16 had a similar licensing.

Ruggero

Hi Ruggero,

thanks for your fast reply.

Our topic is that we are facing for the very first time, that there are with NPrinting >17 two different licence models available.

As we decided to switch from QV to QS we decided to switch from NPrinting 16 (with from our point of view "no limits") to NPrinting >17 and from now on with limitations.

Our Qlik-Partner says that this was also the same topic with NPrinting 16. But we can't find any limitations in our contract or even inside the NPrinting 16 Software. For example: With NPrinting >17 you have to create/Maintain user roles (like developer). In NPrinting 16 there is not such a function.

So the question is: Is it correct to receive only the limited version of NPrinting >17 when you come from NPrinting 16?

Is there a documentation available which shows that for NPrinting 16 two different licence models were available. Maybe our Qlik Partner sold us the small version, but didn't informed us that we had have the choice. My impression is, that there was only one "version" of NPrinting 16 on the market?!?

Thx in advance for any further information.

Hi,

This is more a technical community than a commercial. About commercial questions you have to ask to your Qlik reseller.

Technical differences between 16 and 17+ are documented in the official help site. In the main page https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/April2019/Content/NPrinting/Introduction/Introduction.htm there is also a comparsion table.

QlikView NPrinting 16 doesn't support Qlik Sense. So if you migrate from QlikView to Qlik Sense you must also migrate to Qlik NPrinting 17+.

Qlik NPrinting 17+ is a completely new product of enterprise class. So it has some features that are not present in the 16 like users and roles.

I suggest you to deeper evaluate the meaning of migrating from 16 to 17+. You could create a testing installation and test to migrate you reports.

Ruggero
