Check the firewall on your QlikSense server, ports 4242, 4243, 4747 should be allowed inbound on the QlikSense server

  • Did you import a Certified Generated from Qlik Sense?
  • Did you allocate TOKEN (license) to NPrinting account?

For future reference:  this issue was resolved for me by leasing a QlikView Desktop licence on the server.  Logging on to the server with the nprinting service account.

Well - that was a QlikSense thread i think, but yes - all the basics written in help instruction need to be in place:)

This is quite a generic error and is not specific to Sense - only to NPrinting.  Just trying to provide additional helpful solutions to those who have a similar issue in the future.

The installation, setup and licencing of QV Desktop is not covered in the NPrinting installation notes.  But is a required component.

Thank you for your helpful comments

I agree that this is a generic error, but if you know the context (setup) than you will know what to look for.

What i meant is that the question was related to QlikSense product as per Jim's query and therefore most likely issue resides in ports, certificates or tokens or security rules on Qlik Sense server.."

"....I have setup 1 qlik sense server and 1 nprinting server. both are not join to domain....."

Now regarding licensing & QlikView - YOU ARE 100% WRONG

There are multiple places in Help document which state QliView license requirement:

1. Deploying Qlik NPrinting ->Planning your deployment -->Licensing Qlik NPrinting

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2017/Content/DeployingQVNprinting/Licensing-Qlik-NPri...

Here is clear instruction how to do this

2. System requirements

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2017/Content/DeployingQVNprinting/System-requirements...

this clearly states:

QlikView Desktop
  • QlikView Desktop 11.20 SR15 or higher and 12.00 SR5 are supported.
  • QlikView Desktop 12.10 SR1 or higher is supported starting from Qlik NPrinting 17.2.2 and includes On-Demand reports.
  • QlikView Desktop Personal Edition is not supported.

QlikView Desktop is required on the Qlik NPrinting Engine computer, even if QlikView Server Enterprise Edition or Small Business Edition is also installed on that server. QlikView Server and QlikView Desktop must be the exact same version, including the release number.

3. Also in another place Qlik help document says (however it is not instalation documentation) as it belongs to error management:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2017/Content/Troubleshooting/Qlik-NPrinting-Engine-wi...

The Qlik NPrinting Engine needs QlikView Desktop installed, with a license activated for the Windows user that runs the service.

Proposed action

Activate one of the allowed QlikView Desktop licenses.

If you use assigned CALs, you need to connect the QlikView Desktop to the QlikView Server at least one time, at the beginning, using the same Windows user and computer as the Qlik NPrinting Engine service. A Named CAL license, taken from a QlikView Server, is valid only for a single QlikView Desktop user. In the case of a multiple Qlik NPrinting Engineinstallation, you must set a different Windows user and a different QlikView Desktop Named CAL license for each Qlik NPrinting Engine. If you use the same QlikView Desktop Named CAL license two or more times, the QlikView Server will disconnect all QlikView Desktops but one, and report generation will fail. See: System requirements for Qlik NPrinting Engine

Do the following:

  1. Find Qv.exe in the installation path.
  2. Press and hold SHIFT, right-click Qv.exe, and then select Run as different user.
  3. Open a .qvw document in the QlikView Server by using qvp. This will bind the license.
  4. Close QlikView Desktop.
  5. Restart the Qlik NPrinting Engine service.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I mentioned it 100 times - peple do not read help documents, do not plan NPrinting setup - they just start installation and hope for the best thinking that it is "Next", "Next", "Next"..."Finish" process..

I did read the installation notes, but QV Desktop is not covered in installation procedure and the licencing issue is easy to miss.  The issue I had was easy to resolve and, as I stated, my comment was simple intended to help others (searching for this error message) resolve issues in a quick manner in the future.  I believe this is the purpose of a community site like this, rather than using it as a forum to attempt to prove you are better than others.

I believe the same - that community needs to help resolve issues which are unusual, undocumented or simply challenging..

and i also say: ALWAYS READ HELP document...

I am not trying to prove anything here, but encourage everyone to READ what is already there on help website. This will help everyone - people who are seeking help have most of the answers in front of them and us, as we will not waste time pointing them to already existing basic materials.
