I need to clarify if these options are really needed for the nprinting designer client install. A few developers experienced an issue with qlik nprinting designer client Feb 2020 "Qlik NPrinting Designer is launched by clicking on the "Edit Report" button but it does not start" . In Qlik Support article the resolution said the designer client should be installed with the following options under compatibility tab
- the compatibility mode is set to the OS you are using
- the "Override high DPI scaling ... " option is flagged
- the "Run this program as Administrator" option is flagged
https://support.qlik.com/articles/000051573
If these options are to be checked - wouldn't they appear as checked when viewing the compatibility tab after the qlik nprinting designer client is installed? When I installed the Qlik NPrinting Designer Client Feb 2020 from the Qlik downloads site - the installation did not check these options on my installation and I did not have any problems editing report templates on NPrinting. Furthermore, the developers do not have elevated permissions to run as administrator on their pc's and if "run this program as administrator" is required to be checked, then the designer client will fail to launch due to permissions.
We are currently on Feb 2020 NPrinting Server and Designer Client
We will be upgrading to June 2020 SR1 of NPrinting Server and Designer Client
Hi @mjht
Options regarding compatibility are not compulsory but they are workaround to situations when OS is running on high DPI screens with zoom on and causes designer crash. That is a case when you use laptops like Dell XPS which do have resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K, Ultra HD) or Apple Retina Display - same story.
Those settings should be done after NPrinting designer is installed and installer is not configured to set them up automatically .
Regarding "Run as Administrator" - that is clear requirement. You need to run installer with Admin rights or have helpdesk installing it for developers.
