Upgrade from May2023-SR2 to -SR3 fails and rolls back (multiple 0x80070643)

Hi,

We have met problems during the upgrade with a successful roll back as a result. OS is Windows 2016. Our Qlik platform is Qlik Sense Enterprise for Windows Nov2023 patch 4.

Installation log is attached. We see multiple 0x80070643 errors during processing of MSI packages.

Any clues about the problem ?

Kind regards

Hi @tevkar1

It depends how big is your repository - If you have large repository backup which is taken during upgrade has no place to be stored and install process gets rolled back.

The easiest thing to check would be total C drive capacity vs remaining.

Hi,

It could be an issue of the installed .NET. Try to repair (see Microsoft tool https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135) or uninstall it. Qlik NPrinting setup will download and install .NET if missed.

Hi,

Thanks. Our servers don't have access to Internet. Is it a requirement ?

Kind regards

Hi,

This could be the reason why the Qlik NPrinting setup is not able to download the correct version of .NET. You can download .NET 4.8.1 from another computer connected with internet and move the file to the Qlik NPrinting server.

Please check also that somebody did not uninstall .NET from the Qlik NPrinting server for security reasons. If yes, please note that it is required and it is installed automatically by the Qlik NPrinting setup. You can remove older version but latest must stay installed.

Best Regards,

Ruggero

Have you got enough disk space? I had the same error and I noticed that C drive was almost full

cheers

Hi,

This may be the reason. We have .NET 4.8.03761 (Release value 528049), while 4.8.1 has 533320 as minimum. I'd expect a more friendly warning than failing during the installation. We will upgrade .NET and try again.

Kind regards

Hi,

We had 50 GB free space. I assume that it is more than enough.

Hi,

Automatic backups are stored in the folder %ProgramData%\NPrinting. IF you never cleaned it, check if there still are old ones: you can move them in another disk or delete the ones related to old versions.

@Lech_Miszkiewicz  and @Ruggero_Piccoli - Thanks for input - We found the problem which was well hidden in the installation log for QlikNprintingRepoService at %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP (about 48 MB, 180K lines):

Backup process failed. System.IO.IOException: There is not enough space on the disk.

NB! auto backup location is the same folder - %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\nprinting_backup_...\
