Hi team,
My Qlik Replicate Console isn't working in RDP(Remote Desktop Connection). There is no response when I double click the icon, trying to trace the error by checking the log file content.
Can someone please help me with locating the config file.
Purpose : Log files not being generated hence to verify/edit the config file to specify the respective log file path.
In addition if you know how to rectify the log file generation in other ways you can suggest that as well.
Thanks,
Vandhana
Hello @Vandy,
If the services point to the same data directory, then, how did you validate you have tasks in your Replicate? Are you able to login to Replicate GUI via browser to see all the tasks? Please make sure you are not using Qlik Enterprise Manager (QEM), because QEM can access multiple Replicate servers and you might be looking at wrong replicate box.
Make sure you can open the Replicate console withing the RDP and see all the tasks are there. If you can see the tasks, then you may open a support case to see what is going on. If you don't see the tasks, then data directory could have been manually modified, and you will need to do a fresh install.
Thank you,
Dinesh
TL;DR.
@Vandy that mention of RDP is just to further confuse the people trying to help I guess? That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the problem or do you think otherwise? 'nobody' connects to a Replicate server directly, we all use RDP - except me on my dinky laptop with local Replicate.
>>> There are no new log files being generated in this folder "C:\Program Files\Attunity\Replicate\data\logs". Not sure what is the reason.
Easy: Most likely during the install process, or possibly during subsequent tweaks, there was a dedicated non-default data directory specified as " C:\attunity\data". that's where the logs will be going, not the default directory you point to. That's just an old one. There is almost no point deleting, as it is likely to be re-created erroneously at some point.
Do yourself a favor and Google for, and install, VOIDTOOLS EVERYTHING. Let it look for (all) the files like repuictl.log, repsrv.log, GlobalRepo.sqlite - it'll quickly show where they are, and which is recent.
>>> There is no response when I double click the icon
What Icon? The one in the start menu? People actually use that? Jeez... just use your browser in the RDP session, or directly! You are just using more moving parts than needed. That icon leads to (for example) ~"C:\Program Files\Attunity\Replicate\bin\RepUiCtl.exe" -d "C:\Replicate\data" SERVICE BROWSE" ~ which in turn just starts a browser. Just go directly to a browser shortcut with for example : https://myservername/attunityreplicate
>>> Log On As is the same user/account for all Qlik services running. (./vandhanac)
WHY? What if you change assignments and that username gets de-activated. Should Replicate die? This should be a SERVICE accoutn, not a personal account. The only purpose I know to change it from 'system' is to use a dedicate SQLserver service account really. The only reason I know to change it to a personal account is incompetent system management practices.
This topic seems to prove the old saying - "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing'
Good luck!
Hein.
Hello @Dineshan ,
Previously a colleague of mine was working with Replicate so that's how I know there are tasks which I can't really see in the GUI.
Are you able to login to Replicate GUI via browser to see all the tasks? - I am not able to login as there are authorization issues. Also I am not using QEM.
I will go ahead with the fresh install.
Thanks & Regards,
Vandhana
Hello @Heinvandenheuvel ,
I did find a recent log generated in C:\attunity\data.
>>> There is no response when I double click the icon - I of course tried https://myservername/attunityreplicate this method. I was still not able to access Replicate.
I was getting an error that said can't use SYS Account as default hence I had to change.
Thanks,
Vandhana
>>> I did find a recent log generated in C:\attunity\data.
Yup. That's where it was to be expected with the chosen data location. So... anything interesting in the logs? Share them (preferably as text files, renamed from .log to .txt
>>> I was getting an error that said can't use SYS Account as default hence I had to change.
Focus on that first. What was the EXACT error? You are likely to be creating more problems using a personal account. What is 'SYS' ? It _should_ work under 'local system'. If it doesn't, then try to fix that. Once it works as 'local system' you can try another service account, never personal, if there is a good business reason.
