I haven't updated this report for some time. But I have recently looked at the latest version of PBI and Qlik Sense. I will write the updates I saw in future posts. There have been some VG updates for both Qlik Sense and PBI. I will add the main ones that stand out.
My preference is still easily Qlik Sense. For the reasons in my report. But I will state again I'm only looking at the main products. That is Qlik Sense Business or Enterprise. And Power BI. This includes the desktop (needed to do the functions as contained in the report) and the PBI cloud version of PBI (needed to share the Apps). Other offerings like Qlik Replicate and PBI Dataflows etc. were not looked at.
But I certainly like PBI. But I still feel Qlik Sense was developed with a clear overall vision at the start. Due maybe to already having one product (View) and wanting to make it more user friendly than View but totally cloud based. PBI seems to have been developed in a we-need-this as it grew and become more popular. So the initial PBI is not even totally cloud based. And other factors as noted in the report.
And I hope it is still OK to do this comparison on the forum. If not could the site administrators please either delete this post or let me know in some way.
Its a new way to create a new sheet (page) and add chart or tables to the sheet. I will continue to use the (previous) now called Advanced Option. But for beginers I'm sure it will easier and an improvement. It also gives the option of seeing the fields and data of all the tables in Qlik Sense. Something I have wished was available in the past. I have instead set up tables and added all the fields.
This was only recently released. This was the 2nd part of making measures reusable. The first part was allowing a full measure to be used in another measure eg VarMth as ActualMonth - BudgetMonth (done Feb 2021). The 2nd as shown above
Its an excellent improvement to Set Analysis. PBI had this feature as part of DAX and now Qlik has completely closed this gap. But keep the simplicity (in fact improving) of measures and Set Analysis.
