Hi folks,
I have several publisher tasks that depends upon each other, the next tastk starts upon the success or failure of the previous task.
The problem is when the server is restarted (windows updates mainly) during a task is run. Then the task hangs in the run-state.
It cannot be stopped manualla, restarting of the QDS service does not help.
The task has to be copied, the original task deleted and the copy edited to take place in the task-chain.
The timeout value of the task is ignored.
No error messages tells you that it has hung. You have to manually look after the tasks.
Anyone else seeing this? Any hints on how to prevent it?
/Andy
Hey all,
As this thread was started in 2013 and concerns QlikView version 10 & 11 releases, I'd like to add the more modern versions of QlikView Server/Publisher do a great job in gracefully stopping tasks when the Windows server running Publisher is shutdown or rebooted.

Are you using QV11 SR1? It has a bug that randomly leaves a task as running although the document reload was completed successfully.
Oh, forgot to say this system is QV11 SR2 (build 11.0.11426.0)
I saw that bug being reported but this is not a succesfully completed task, it is an interrupted task.

I've never seen this kind of error...
Can't you set Windows Update to not automatically restart the system? The servers I work with usually ask for a system restart after a Windows Update, they just don't automatically restart...
Yeah I have to ask the customers IT-department and their outsourcing partner if that is ok.

I'm experiencing the same issue with Version 11.0. We have to delete the task and recreate.
Hello,
I'm facing same issue after migrate V10 -> V11. Tasks needs to be copy or rename to working fine and reload correctly.
Once, we restart windows server or QV services manually, tasks scheduling are out.
Who succeed to fix that?
Thanks,
Did anyone fix it? Once you reboot the server, the task chain is dead and it should be triggered manually.
