Allow Dynamic CAL Assignment

Good Day,

I just want to know

For example I have 5 Named User CAL and 6 Users, I enabled Allow Dynamic CAL Assignment so that I will not automatically assign the CALs then Users 1 to 5 consumed all the the 5 CALs, my question is if User 5 logged out will the CAL that he used will be freed automatically so that user 6 can log-in or I have to manually remove user 5 from using that certain CAL so that user 6 can log-in??

and can anyone explain this to me: ^* The CAL can be formally deleted (either by restart or manually) after the given time. specifically the restart part..

license deletion is manual procedure to allow 6th user to log in .

if all named cals are used and i allowed dynamic cal assignment on document cal,

will the user be able to access that document with a dynamic cal assignment even though he doesn't have a named user cal??

Hello,

The dynamic CAL assigment is exactly that, meaning that if there are no CALs left, therefore there are no possible further assignments. So no, the user won't be able to access that document if all named CALs are assigned. Think of named CALs as you will think of any other software license: If you have 5 Windows or Autocad or almost anything licenses, and they are all assigned and in use, then the sitxh user will not be able to log in or use the software.

I have the same question as dynamic CAL assigment for Document CAL.

Example:

If I have 100 Document CALs available on server and I have allocated 25 to an application and I check box for Allow dynamic CAL assignment.

Senario 1:

If I manually assigned those 25 Doc CALs to specific users, even the 25 users are not 100% log on the server, no more extra user can access the application, right?

Senario 2:

If I manually assigned 20 Doc CALs out of 25 to specific users, there will be 5 other users can be dynamiclly assinged Doc CALs to the application.

Hi Miguel, you have written, "No license will be deleted nor unassigned from any user, unless you do it manually" If I want to deallocate the same licence dynamically if the user has not accessed the dashboard for more than 24 hours, then what should I do?? Brijesh

hi,

I would also like to know if its possible to add an AD Group to the list in the Management Console?  I have over 500 users in an AD group and dont want to have to type each user individually....  I have tried adding the Group and ticking Allow Dynamic CAL assignment - but the users are then unable to access it.

Any help Urgently appreciated!
