Hi Everyone,
We have a 4 node Qlikview architecture, config :
Server A : QMS, QVS,QVWS,DSC;
Server B : QVS,QVWS,DSC(disabled),QMS(disabled);
Server C : QDS;
Server D : QDS;
We wish to have an active passive failover architecture & make Server B my failover candidate, so in case my A is down then, B can take up & cater to our end users. Any & all guidance will be appreciated if you have implemented a similar failover architecture in your environment.
Our plan was to create a copy of the qvpr on a shared folder & have Server B QMS point to that & disable it until needed. Will this work ? if yes, which all changes are to be expected in the QVPR ?
Regards,
Rohan.

Hi @Rohan
Hi @Rohan
Hi @Daniele_Purrone,
Appreciate your quick response.
I read through the doc, We are trying to implement an architecture similar to Two Servers, Active / Active QVS and QVWS in the doc you have shared, is there any detailed doc on how to actually implement this architecture ? The reason we are asking this is because as far as I have researched, this kind of activity will require some manual changes to the QVPR before restoring. What these changes would be is my primary concern.
Regards,
Rohan.
Hi @Rohan ,
If hostnames change in the process, you might need to change those mentioned in the QVPR, as mentioned here:
https://help.qlik.com/en-US/qlikview/May2023/Subsystems/Server/Content/QV_Server/QlikView-Server/QVS...
Edit all .xml files in the following folders, replacing all references to the current machine name with the target machine name:
%ProgramData%\QlikTech\ManagementService
%ProgramData%\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR
Hi @Daniele_Purrone ,
Yes, We know about this part. Is the hostname reference the only change required in the QVPR ?
Regards,
Rohan.
Hi @Rohan ,
I cannot think of anything else that would need to be changed.
I would suggest that you test the shutting down production on a scheduled maintenance plan to test this.
