Is it possible to get a "Shared File Editor" in Powertools next to the Viewer and Repair?

The feature in Powertools to view the .shared file is very usefull to pinpoint the source issue. But it would be a great for administrators to be able to change all the bookmarks at once. For example the <OneAndOnlyOne> parameter is set to true and you want to edit this to false. Is this possible and if so is this an enhancement you are willing to look at?

Regards,

Patrick

Hi Jeremy,

I'm having the same issue and the Powertools are not so powerful when dealing with inputfieldvalues. Were you able to find a solution? My goal is to remove inoputfieldvalues from the shared file.  Thanks in advance!

Hi David,

We are also struggling with input fields. Did you find a way to edit/remove them in the .shared files?

Thank you.

Jose

Hi,

jgualsdggroup frenchmaninsd @Jeremy.Kofoot

There are currently no capabilities to remove selected values/variables from input fields in a .shared file. However, you can remove the entire Input Field object from the field, if that helps.

1. Open the .shared file in the Shared File Viewer

2. Filter the list to show the Input Field objects. They ususally have an ID that starts with "IB". Make sure you select both the "InputBoxProperties" and the "MetaData" entities for each object (they will have the same ID).

3. Unselect/uncheck these items from the list

4. Go to Tools > Defrag.., name your name file and press OK

5. The new file will be defragged and the unchecked objects will be removed

Please use this function with caution and validate the integrity of the .shared file and other functionality after completion. Always backup your .shared file before editing it.

I hope this helps.

Thanks a lot sbn‌,

This is a good start for us.

Last question, do you know if there's a way to launch the shared file viewer functions by windows command line?

I would like to try to create a batch file to schedule some .shared files clean up.

Thanks

Hi Stefan,

Can we add a selection for the user bookmark?

After the new deployment users old bookmarks stopped working, we found out that the issue is because of a new listbox object which has "Always one value selected" option.

So we wanted to edit its XML definition, and import it again.

But we are stuck at importing, after we edit the bookmark in XML, how to convert that .xml to .shared file.

Or can we do this directly in .shared file?

Regards,

Ashok.
