Hi,

Is this for a 'stand by' server ? As long as the second server (as in the actual service)  is not running that should be fine in regards to the licensing.

Otherwise you would need a cluster license.

Cheers,

Paul

no we can not apply 1 license to two server .

if you apply to second one it first one service will go down

you can purchage cluster license and apply to multiple servers

Thank you Paul, Do you mean that i can achieve my goal through 2 ways? :

1. apply the serial no to the 2nd server but let it be down

2. purchase a cluster license

But how to know if the license is a cluster license?

I actually encounter a situation: 2 servers have the same serial no but different LEF.

1. Yes, one server would need to be down. At any one time only one server can be running.

2.  The LEF file should mention the number of allowed nodes in the cluster.- NUMBER_OF_CLUSTER_NODES

Thank you very much. But curious, I saw 2 servers own 1 same serial no and running well. No "NUMBER_OF_CLUSTER_NODES" variable exists in both LEF files. Can you explain it? Thanks.

Are these servers actually setup as a cluster? Or they independent QV servers?

I don't how to identify this. What i know is, the 2 server were set up independently. I think they are seperate.

Hi,

If they are in some domain this is no way possible.

Except for a clustered license. Which is not your case as you said.
