Convert Dates from MM/DD/YYYY to Julian

Hello fellow QV friends.  I have not been able to find an example that I can use that converts date format from MM//DD/YYYY to Julian, or a five-digit date.  Do any of you know how to do this?  Thank you. 

DATE(IF(0 + LEFT(Seller_Paid_Date,2) < 30, 2000, 1900) + LEFT(Seller_Paid_Date, 2), 1, RIGHT(Seller_Paid_Date,3))  AS Test,

Try Seller_Paid_Date*1 as Test
