GOAL:
I want to copy a chart on Sheet A, paste it on Sheet B and change the expression.
PROBLEM:
When I do this, the change I make to the expression on Sheet B also changes the original chart on Sheet A.
QUESTION:
How can I copy and paste a chart, make changes, and NOT have it update the original chart?
Thanks,
Hi
Are you used past sheet object as link or paste sheet object?
If you used past sheet object as link, then its affect in both charts. otherwise there is no chance for tat scenerio.
Hi Mayil,
I was using CTRL+C and CRL+V.
I tried using CTRL+C and Paste Sheet Object after reading your reply, and I am still having the same problem.
Not sure if it makes a difference, but the charts are in containers, and I am copying the whole container as I want all the charts.
Hi
I dono the reason, may be try like this
Properties -> General -> ObjectID -> check both id are same, if same, change it.
Edit:
Are you using container? Then its cause problem. Because its assumed as linked object.. so its affect the charts.
This was helpful.
The containers have different object Id's, but the 'objects displayed in container' (charts) have the same object Id's. Which explains why changing one changes them all.
I will have to take the charts out of the container copy them, then place them in another container.
Wish there was a way to copy a whole container of charts to another sheet and make changes without the originals being affected.
Thanks for the help Mayil.
Hi,
You may also try to create Groups (Settings->Document Properties -> Alternate States ->Groups) which can be grouped to a specific container. The objects under the same group will have the interactivity whereas the rest doesn't impact/change on the selection.
Thanks,
Sai
Hi
You can clone the objects one at a time in the first container, then drag the cloned copy onto the tab for the new sheet (that will drop the cloned file on the new sheet). Go to the new sheet and drop the cloned object onto the new container. No shortcuts, I am afraid...

If you do Copy Paste it would have same Object Id,
1)So what you can do is make a clone of it -> this will change the object Id.
Right Click on the object and make a clone and that you can cut paste on the other sheet
2) Clickon the object press Ctrl, keep that ctrl pressed and clickon the object again and drag it to the sheet tab you want.
even this will resolve your problem
Do the following.
1. place your cursor on top of the object which you want to copy.
2. right click and select copy to clipboard -> object
3. then go to desired sheet and again right click and select paste sheet object.
i have tested it and i changed the expression of same object in second sheet it did not affected the object on
my first sheet.
