Could not perform request since QMS backend is in Off Duty state Make sure that the QVS is available with the correct credentials.

Hi,

I just updated my Qlikview license, from a 1-month trial to the new one just purchasedm and I cannot longer update/modify my server options.

As the new license does not include the Publisher I removed the publisher LEF file, as well as the reginfo but I could not solve the problem.

I looked at a few tickets (such as http://community.qlik.com/message/140745) but it did not work in my case.

Do you have any suggestion?

Hi,

If you are running virtual machines it's likely the old VM or a snapshot of it is still running, so QlikView understands that there is a running valid QlikView license that does not allow clustering.

To clear the previous license go to the QMC, System, Licenses, QlikView Server, and on the right QlikView Server License and click on the Clear License button. That will cause your Server to appear as "Unlicensed" in the QMC, Status, Services, which is OK if the server is the old one.

You can check for active QlikView servers in the same network by running the QvsDetector utility from the QlikView Power Tools.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

The "Off Duty" message usually appears when more than one server is running with the same license number with no clustering in license. Make sure all services from the old/temporary server are down, and that the previous license has been cleared up.

Hope that helps.

it might be a silly question but...how do I check it? I mean, I've installed my qlikview server only on 1 VM: is there a way to see if there are other instances using the same license?

Also how do i clear up the previous license?

thanks,

g

Hi Miguel,

I have used the recommendation to clear the server license, since no other action has worked.

After restart, the "Off Duty" inducation is gone, but unfortunately, all the document and assigned CALs are gone too...

I assume that now I have to restore all the PGO files, right?

Thanks!
