Grouped Expressions NOT Working on Pivoted Tables

Hi Qlikers.

I found that grouped expressions don’t work on pivoted tables.

Does anybody knows why?
Is this a bug?

Can it be fixed?

Is it a workaround?

I’m attaching a sample in order to solve this problem.

Thanks and salutes.

For me it's a bug. I know this behavoir from qv 10 and hope it's been fixed in one of the last releases ... If not you could only add a further expressions maybe with a dummy-value like = '' and a less column-width ... it meant you need at least two expressions.

Hi.

I think you have not understood the issue here. Let me explain it again. Whatever are the expressions, is not the issue; the issue is that neither is possible to pivot a table with a group of expressions nor pivot those expressions.

I could set those two colums with conditionals and show them or hide them with a button, but the thing is that grouping expressions is a very good caracteristic of Qlik tables, and probably unique, and it is not working in those 2 cases that I show in tables Step 3 and Step 4, regardless of the expression.

This can only be fixed by QlikTech.

Thank you for following.

Ok Marcus.

Yours is a work around. Works with the dimension month pivoted but it does not work with the expressions pivoted.

Thanks, but as I say, only those who have access to the font code can fix this issue.

Thanks for following.

I see this as working correctly because once the field is pivoted on it loses the label. The user wouldn't be able to select anything via your group anyway. If you could pivot on your group, how would you change the group?

What does work though is to change the group field first, then pivot, but the problem with this is that you don't know which expression is displayed in the table.

It shouldn't hide the label in this case.

I'm attaching a reviewed version. Step 4 shows the same table with all the expressions as rows and all the dimensions as columns and it does not work either.

Thanks for your answer.

I don't understand where the labels should be shown then. If you change the group field before you transform to your rows/columns in step 4 that still works.

I attached a qvw as a possible work-around too. It uses a dynamic pivot table that allows the user to define what they want to see. You still have full pivot functionality so you can move the expressions where you want to see them.

Good luck!
