Help with showing month over month change

I am new and a little lost on how best to create a chart (table). I need it to display as follows:

                          Month 1              Month 2       Month 3

Device A
Device B
Device C

Total
Month Variance(%)

I am counting the number of users

I'm having a number of issues

1. What type of table type do I use for this. Is it a pivot or some other?
2. If it's a pivot how do I add a row for the variance % ... There are many samples but none seem to lay it out in a table at the end? Is that because it's not possible? If I need to show it as a separate column, thats fine as well.
3. How to calculate the variance? Now before you send a link to the magic set analysis I'm not understanding it and how I apply it to this particular problem. So please, if you could exmplain to me how the set analysis is doing that I think would go a long way.

Thanks
