Hi all, i have a column name as fullname. I want separate the fullname as firstname,midname,lastname. By using mid function how can we extract this.

Hi all, i have a column name as fullname. I want separate the fullname as firstname,midname,lastname. By using mid function how can we extract this.

ex: full name: Alexander De khoo  from this i want to separate

First name: Alexander

mid name: De

lastname: khoo

Then it completely depends on the data and ofcourse the business requirement. Business/Client will be able to tell and explain in a better way what all kind of names they have (classification of firstname, middlename and lastname). Accordingly the script can be written

It´s not my intention to offend. I just saying that it´s so difficult to reach a solution due the multiple posibilities in complex names and surnanames.

one recommendation is for ashokkumar (it's his fault), to go back to the source file and edit the rows for comma separation ("First Name,Middle Name, Last Name") then we can all apply mid()/substring() to the field.
