Hi,
A colleague of mine is using the hidden script function on all his script.
This is because the application is being sent to a third party to run on their server and he wants to prevent the work from being plagiarised.
However, when reloading the application with hidden script set up, the application takes much, much longer to run.
Why does hidden script affect performance ?
Is there a better way of preventing plagiarism - section access perhaps ?
Thanks,
Neil
Have you experienced this situation even on your server or only on customers servers?
I do not think that hidden script affect performances.
I suggest to study yìthe behaviour in your enviromnent ....

Hi, Alessandro.
Thanks for your reply. We are experiencing this in the testing phase on our server. When hidden script is switched on, reload times are at least double.
Testing with and without hidden script has been done several times with the same result. I was not expecting any changes to performance.
I searched Qlik Community and AskQV for similar issues but could not find anything.
Regards,
Neil
Then use section access to hide your script ...
Agreed. It was the only other option I could think of if Hidden Script causes this sort of impact. I will check server performance in case anything shows up.
Cheers,
Neil
Agreed on the Section Access. Also, you could open a case with QV Support to get a definitive answer on the Hidden Script causing performance issues.
It occurred to me that some of the issues with hidden script are:
1) Maintainability - if another developer has to amend the app, they may not be aware of hidden script.
2) Security - relying on one password to reveal the script is a risk if it is not documented.
3) I realised that there is a radio button in Document Settings/Security - 'Show Progress for Hidden Script' that needs to be switched on otherwise there is no logging of hidden script.
Regarding performance issues, I haven't seen any documentation for this so my colleague is going back to looking at the server performance.
Cheers,
Neil
