I have this QVW file that uses authentication from an excel document.
When I open the QVW it checks my windows user/pass to allow me access to the file. This particular file, I have access to but not a complete (for example, I can't reload this file). I do have an admin user/pass that I can use, but the file doesn't prompt me for the user/pass.
Is it possable to open a QVW file as another user, so the QVW would prompt me for a user/password?
P.S. I know that I could edit the authentication in the Excel document (I have access to it), but that fails the purpose since the QVW would have to be reloaded (and I can't reload) anyway for the updated Excel to be included.

Gunnar
Hi Friend ,
in case you are having admin rights .
than log on with that admin username and password
Go to Document Properties tab->Security->and check the checkbox named as reload .
and save the document and open it again.
Hope it helps

Kamal
Hi Kamal
I would have admin rights if I could get the QVW to prompt me for user/pass.
However, as my current user, I open the security settings and the "reload" option is already checked, as well as "allow user reload" option.

Hi,
Can u do one more thing.Go to Document Properties->Go to the Opening tab->Uncheck Initial data reduction based on section access .
Hope it help.
Dont forget to save and then open the application.
You can also see if User Properties->"Remember login credential until qlikview exists " is checked in General tab

Hi Kamal
Thanks for the suggestion. I took the "initial data reduction based on section access" check off, saved, reopened the QVW, reloaded... but it gave me the same error:
ADMIN access required:
Section access
As before, I could get the admin access if the QVW would prompt me for the user/pass. But i'm at my wits end here
Regards,
Gunnar
Hi,
While you are on the application....can you go to the script .Comment the section access part from the script.
Save it is as a new document.
Than make the changes what you want.

Kamal
Hi Kamel
Alas, to no avail.
Saving as another QVW file does not "overwrite" the authentication access in the script, even if it's commented out.

Gunnar
With the help of Kamel, I have tried the following steps:
The orginal problem has yet to be resolved. I'm still getting the 'ADMIN access required; Section Access' error when I try to reload the QVW. Any additional ideas are most welcome.

Gunnar
