Medical Facility Census Reporting

Hi All -

Certainly not a 'pro' at Qlikview and have been struggling with this question.

I can provide information based on patients who are 'on census' now easily. Likewise how many patients who have gone 'off census'. What type of expression can I use to show how many patients were on service last month, or in January of 2014 for that matter. I cannot wrap my head around how I would do this.

Ex:

Patient X     Admitted: 1/1/2015 never discharged.

I can make a census report showing Patient X on census today.

but....

If I were to select say Feb of 2015, Patient X should show on census.

What kind of a date field should I use for this and how do I compare a Patient X's Admit and DC dates to this selected Day/Month/Year?

Any advice is appreciated.

You have to generate dates between admit to discharge for any patient. Provide some sample data, would try to create for you..

or, you can use below link... PAGE 10 and 12 can help you..

This will heavily depend on your data model.

For utilization purposes, we create a row in our data model for every day the patient was in-house.

Hi Friend,

Admit Date is ok for that , but for this type of situation please add one more date field like release date , then use interval match for checking is patient is present in the hospital .

Else please send data model , then i can help you more.

Thanks for your comments. The interval match is what I was missing.

--interesting piece of info:

I used the DC date of a patient for the 1st calculation of the intervalmatch. This created a false census reading-patients were only being evaluated if they had both an Admit and DC date. I stopped using DC date and created a field that was today (for active patients) or DC Date (for discharged patients). That was the trick.

Thanks much
