On Selection of one field another field gets cleared in Current Selection Box

Hi Team,

I have below 2 Queries which I have mentioned as Case1 and Case2 along with the below snapshots and the QVWs.

Case1 : I have year, Month, Product Name, Sale Type  list boxes and there is Current Selection Box. I have selected year- 2009, Sale Type-International, Product Name-C and in the Current Selection Box whatever I have selected is getting displayed. The problem is when iam selecting Sale Type as Domestic whatever has been selected  in CurrentSelectionBox is going off(absent).Kindly let me know whether is it a Qlikview General behaviour or not?

If not how can we keep the previous selection going off when we are doing a current selection.

Case2 : I have year, Month, Product Name, Sale Type list boxes and there is Current Selection Box. I have selected year-2006,Sale Type-Domestic, Product name-B, Month-Aug, Jan, Jun. The problem is when iam selecting the fields having data these are getting displayed in the Current Selection Box, but when iam selecting the fields where the data is not present even though these are not getting selected in the list box(marked as green) these are getting displayed in currentselectionbox.Kindly let me know why this is getting displayed in the CurrentSelectionBox and kindly help us to resolve this.

Please find the attached Screenshots and QVWs for your reference.

Thanks&Regards,

Hari

Case1: This is normal QV behavior. When you make an incompatible selection (ie Domestic), selections that have no association with that selection are cleared.

Case2: I believe you've uncovered a bug when using the "WIndows Checkbox" style. Checkboxes are additive selections and the product "A" should show as selected in the listbox. This problem does not occur when using the default "Qlikview Classic" selection style.

Hi Hari,

First case is obviosly normal behavior of Qlikview, because you use checkbox "Always One Selected Value".

In your case you don't have a data for Domestic (Sale Type) in 2009 and Product C. So when you choose Domestic all selections are going off, because this selection exclude all previous results .

Second case is the same normal Qlikview behavior. You select Jan - there is no data, but it doesn't exclude data from your selection. So you will see it in Current Selection Box and when data will appear it will become white, until you don't see it in listbox, but you can see it in CSB.

HTH.

Kind regards,

Case 2:

I don't think that it's a bug. PFA.

Download the Case2.qvw. Select "A" in product name. Product names A,B show in CSB, but A shows as unselected in the Product box. That doesn't look right to me.

Hm... If you mean this case (PFA).

I think it's because Product A doesn't have data in 2006.

Hi,

The first case is totally normal QV Behaviour. However, the second case is more like an interpretation issue. I think it is not a bug because, selecting a month which is out of the possible values (in this case Jan) does not affect the selections, because even if you select an excluded value it gets gray, which is normal QV Behaviour. But... is confusing that it appears in CSB.

Some may say that it's ok because you're selecting it even though is an excluded value, while others may agree that it should not be appearing in CSB because it makes no sense to display it if its an excluded value... so my opinion would be that it is a normal behaviour, but it can be kind of confusing,

In your screenshot, why doesn't A show a checkmark in the listbox? I'll admit I don't use the checkbox style much so that may be the expected behavior, but I don't understand it. If it were "Classic" style, A would show in green.
