Qlikview 10 Installation

Hi,

I am not able to install the Qlikview 10 installation. It is showing the Windows installer commands and after that it is getting terminated. Do i need to install through windows installer only? Please let me know the installation process..

Hi XXX,

Did you get to install QlikView. As I am getting exactly the same problem when I am trying to install.

Please, let me know if you were able to resolve the above issues.

Thanks,
Ravi

Hi,

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue as described by XXX. i.e.

- double click installation file QlikViewDesktop_x86Setup_Eng (1).exe

- after the file extracts I get the Windows Installer message (pasted below)

I tried installing exactly the same file (copied over via USB) on another XP computer and the installation was successful. I've run Windows Update to ensure I have the latest updates available.

have you checked your rights to the TEMP directory on the machine giving you a problem?

Hi John,

Yes I have admin rights to my temp directory.

Anything else I can try?

Thanks!

Hi,

I had the same problem, turned out to be a really simple case of full disk.

I had the same issue and managed to find the solution in the manual, I am using QlikViewServer_x86Setup.exe and it would would say configuring windows installer etc and then popup with the commands window. It seems whil that command window is open and only when its open, the MSI is put into the temp folder in a weird named folder and then you drag to your desktop(for example) and then run the MSI instead.

Obtaining the MSI package

If you need the msi package for installation you have to extract it from the

exe file.

1 Start the installation from the exe file and let the first dialog open.

2 In the temp folder in C:\Documents and Settings\username\

Local Settings, or C:\Users\username\App-

Data\Local depending on you operating system, you will find the

msi file under a random name, e.g. ed34g.msi.

3 Copy the msi file to a location of your choice.

4 Exit the exe installation.

5 Install using the msi (see below for silent installation). See also

Deploying MSI packages with Group policies in Appendix D.

hope this helps

Ryan

Hi John,

I am facing the installer issue again.... Please suggest.

We had the same issue on an XP machine.  I ran the .msi that was extracted into the temp directory and that worked.  We did check and had the correct authority to the temp folder.

Thanks,

Damon
