Size of QVD

Hi All,

I have just created couple of QVDs and  QVWs for same tables.

As for as I know QVDs contain compressed data therefore size of the files should be smaller than regular QVWs...right?

QVD Files which I have created are actually have bigger size than QVW. Is it possible that the size of QVD is slightly bigger than QVW or I am doing something wrong?

One qvw is 52 MB and qvd for same table is 96 MB large.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

It's the other way around.

QVDs don't really compress data, what they do is eliminate duplicates, they only store one version of every value.

QVWs implement a compression algorithm, in the document properties you can change the compression rate.

Daniel,

Thanks for your reply. So does this means that size of the QVD can be bigger than QVW?

PS: Are you German? Your name seems like German Name? 🙂
