SVN is an acronym for "SubVersion", a popular open source Version Control System ("VCS" or "SCM").  There are free open source implementations of SVN such as http://subversion.apache.org/

There are also free or low cost commercial versions that I find easier to implement on windows such as VisualSVN http://www.visualsvn.com/server/

Qlikview also supports Microsoft Team Foundation Server as a VCS.

A VCS consists of a Server (like VisualSVN or MS TFS -- non-Qlikview -- both of which you must install and configure) and a participating client(s) that interacts with the server. Qlikview as a client to SVN or TFS is integrated into the QV software. QV Developer acts as a client, communicating to your configured VCS Server, using the File, Source Control menu commands in QV Developer.

There is a QV document covering the topic here:

I would recommed that you use the VisualSVN implementation.

http://www.visualsvn.com/downloads/

It contains an installer and good documentation on install has a gui console for administration.

Does any one have idea how to solve the Error..?

We installed SVN and Tortoise Merge tools.

After Going to File>> Source Control >> Settings>> Pick Qlikview SVN >> Settings and an error pops up 'Qlikview failed to send request to Source control provider' We are unable to set

SVN Command line

Merge tool

Merge tool parameters

as we never get to the setting box. We get an error before we get there.

Just to clarify, Subversion (SVN) was supported beginning with QV11 SR1.

Hi rob,

it seems you know a lot about subversioning.

I read the TFS source control document and tried to make a test with personal edition. But it doesn't work. Is it normal ?

How long does it take to implement TFS ?

best regards
