Subtract 24 hours off date field

I would like to subtract 24 hours off my date field SALES_DATE which is currently in M/D/YYYY format. How would I go about this :

Current Output:

2/13/2016

3/18/2016

Expected Output :

2/12/2016

2/17/2016

Thanks

In theory: add -1 to the date field. The integer value of a date indicates the number of days since epoch. Just like in Excel.

Your second example however requires some month manipulations as well... Or is this a mistake?

Thanks I though there was more manipulation required to be honest.

Yes the bottom example should have read 3/17/2016

Thanks once again
