I've been experimenting with the new PixelPerfect template editor and came across two things:
- Is it possible to use fonts available via custom themes so that reports can have the same look&feel in terms of font as do the app sheets styled via custom themes? So far, I only see a set of standard fonts in the drop-down for all the text elements.
- Is it possible to set the background color of an entire band such as the page or report footer? With a band selected and trying to edit its background color, any changes only seem to affect child elements within the band but not the band itself. If I am not missing anything here, would the current workaround be to fill up the entire band with an empty child element (e.g. text) and color that one as desired?
Thanks & best regards
Tom
Hi,
Font limitations are listed in the help site page https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/Reporting/Reporting-serv...
To set the background color of a band you have to drag and drop a Panel object, set its size and properties. This is the standard way to do it.
Panel is a container that groups individual report controls into collections and allows you to move, copy, and paste them. Panel also visually unites report controls in Print Preview.

Hello,
Using Fonts from Custom Themes
Currently, the PixelPerfect template editor only supports a set of standard fonts for text elements, which can differ from the custom themes applied in app sheets. Unfortunately, it does not directly integrate with custom theme fonts at this time.
Official Site
Workarounds:
Embed Fonts in the Report: If the editor supports font embedding, you might be able to include a custom font by uploading it or linking it through an external stylesheet (if the platform allows such customizations).
Matching Font Styles Manually: Choose the closest matching font from the available options in the PixelPerfect editor and manually adjust styles (e.g., size, weight) to mimic the look and feel of your app sheets.
Future Considerations:
If this is a priority feature for your reports, consider submitting a feature request to the tool's development team. Consistent branding is a common requirement, and they may consider enhancing the editor's font capabilities in future updates.
2. Setting Background Color of an Entire Band
You're correct that changes to the background color appear to affect only child elements within a band and not the band itself. At present, the editor may not natively support changing the band background directly.
Workarounds:
Empty Child Element Method:
Insert an empty element (e.g., a text box or rectangle) into the band.
Resize this element to fill the entire band.
Set the background color for this child element. This effectively acts as the band’s background.
Layering with Z-Index:
Place the colored element as the bottom-most layer within the band, ensuring it does not overlap or hide other child elements.
Use transparency settings if needed to maintain visibility.
Why This Might Be Happening:
The editor likely treats bands as structural containers, not visual elements. This design decision prioritizes content organization over visual styling at the band level.

Hi and thanks Ruggero,
for fonts: The listed limitations refer to custom fonts in apps in general but I don't really see a statement on whether they are available in PixelPerfect reporting or not (as is available in the limitations for Tabular Reporting: "The use of custom fonts in the Excel template file is not supported"). As far as I can see in the font dropdowns in PixelPerfect reporting, no custom fonts from a custom theme are available.
for band colors: Ok, so it is not possible to color entire bands but only objects within bands, such as panels.
Hi,
I think the sentence of your case is:
If you use a custom theme in your app to define font use (for example, adding a font file directly to the theme), fonts rendered in various outputs might not be the same fonts you have used in your app.
and if you can't see the font in the drop-down it means it is not available. It is the same as in Excel reporting.
Best Regards,
Ruggero
Ah ok, thanks. I would guess an Ideation is the way to go then. Support for custom fonts is important for acceptance of created PixelPerfect reports.
