First of all, thanks Qlik to let us (customers, users, partners) speak out and suggest new ideas. This one may be a little controversial.
I think the free Qlik Sense Desktop was one of the best ideas you ever had : it allowed a huge amount of users to test, develop extension, train before making the purchase decision. But more, from a partner perspective, it allowed us to show Qlik Sense with just a connection required. Another common use case I have : I can spend sometimes 10 hours in train during a week and I would like to go further on some work, such as a hard set analysis or some cosmectic changes on an app, while the connection is not available.
Another thing : on QlikView, we had a personal edition, nothing required. Great way to introduce the product to customers.
The idea is to be even freer than before : -totally free QSD -connection not required.
Best regards,

A little update : I was yesterday with an old QlikView customer. His brief story : he once worked in a solar company and used QlikView Personal Edition for some report on solar farms. His choice was guided by one thing : "I have to find an easy, free to try, free to develop sofware" and found out QPE after few search. In his next work at a fishing accessories company, he was a proud QlikView proponent and made his new employer buy a QlikView Server with a huge quantity of named cal.
I also read here people that have to move to PowerBi...
So to make it clear : there are already free offers (PowerBi, Tableau Public...) and there are users of free offers. Either you prefer to be a part of their life today (and potentially a part of their life in a near future when they will have to go to the Enterprise offer), either you prefer not to be a part of it and loose visibility.
Also : can i point out that you closed an idea with 70 votes, in the top 10 of open ideas? Maybe this idea is not so dumb (not that I believe in mob rules but voters are partners, and luminaries..)
