Folders in your own workspace and streams

A user should be able to create folders in his own workspace to manage his projects. The same function should be available in streams too.

Hi

What's the status on this topic in 2023 ? It would really suits the usage of a lot of users

I too would like this feature implemented as it makes searching for any files pretty messy.

Although, I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon as their most recent Q&A recommends using your external cloud storage provider (google drive, amazon, etc.) to create that folder structure.

It works yes BUT, some features seemed to be lost when I tested, such as the ability to do wildcard loads (file_name_*.qvd). It also brings up more questions like, does saving/loading externally count against the 1TB per month of bandwidth listed there (I'd assume so)?

Hi Community

I typed the same idea without notice that it was already suggested.

Let me add to this initiative and get the comments I wrote back.

Each customer that shows our SaaS platform asks the same, we miss subfolders for DataSets in SaaS.

Everybody use them to structure their projects in OnPrem, it's needed to add a certain structure and logic to our projects.

Currently it's possible to create a virtual subfolder, using the store command in the script editor : Store Table into [Lib://DataFiles/SubFolder1/DataFile.CSV]

But then there is no way to manage them or visualize that subfolder in the catalog or the script wizard.

i.e. many customers save the historic data in a Subfolder by year 2019, 2020,..., or have an structure based on countries... Sometimes a big number of subfolders is needed.

- Replacing them by a space is not an option.

- Having hundreds of QVDs with very similar names is not an option an difficult to maintain

- Using external storage for that is not always an option, using OneDrive and many other connectors will add huge extra maintenance efforts in the script as you cannot use wildcards.

So, not managing subfolders for Data Files in SaaS is a pain.

I agree, the lack of this feature has caused many difficulties over the years since I moved over from QlikView. Just so hard to organise and search for apps in my Work Stream.

200% agree we badly need subfolders in cloud spaces !

Managing, archiving big data sets with partitioned QVD files is a mess.
Messing  Config Files, Original DaAta, semi-processed data, final QVDs happpening so often !

This is in development and will be managed by our hub usability team. I may move this over to the new portal - stay tuned for the link.
