I would suggest that Qlik makes a proper connection for on-premise SAP connection. At the moment there is no good and efficient way to connect directly SAP database which is on-premise.
The only way is to build special API or use QDT which is not the best solution.
I think we are not alone with this problem and I hope proper solution will be out soon.
