Compress and decompress text files just in the components.

Kettle has the feature to compress and decompress text input/output files just in the component using gzip/zip, can Talend provide the same feature. Currentlly we export lost of data into text files, which will be compressed and transfered to another site using FTP, but the compress and decompress operation must be run manually, components' native compression support will save us a lot of time.

Theses components exist in TOS 3.1.0 and 3.1.1 (I did not verify the previous versions) : tFileArchive and tFileUnarchive.

I mean something like a Text file output component with a "compress" option, which will compress the output file on the fly when checked.

This functionality exists since v4.0.0

Check the appropriate option box on the input or output component...

Well that's what is says in the manual but it's not in my TIS4.0.2.

Can't really explain that as I have no problem.
Just a thought: having installed v4.0.2 are you using the default workspace under the (new) application directory or are you using the pre-existing workspace from your previous version? See this bug.
