dropdown menu extension

Attachments

When you are using many tab sheets within QlikView your application can easily become unclear and very full. Using standard tab sheets it is not possible to build a hierarchy in your menu.

I have built a dropdown menu extension that allows you to build a hierarchy within your menu and manage multiple tab sheets in a structured way. The menu is easy to install and use, you can configure it from within your QlikView application.

You can find documentation, a sample qvw file and the extension itself at the following location:

Thanks,

James.

HI James,

I added the files here as well. I will leave the link to Github because when I do an update that is where the latest version will be.

Thanks a lot . I do have a problem I have around 7 parent menu sheets but the menu extension will take only first 5 on the grey tab and the remaining below the grey bar . How can I bring them all into the grey area?

extension.JPG.jpgAlso is there a way to align the sheets to the left instead of center?

Hi Anitha,

When the width of the menu doesn't fit you can change it in the file: tinydropdown.css. If you used the default installation you can find that file at:

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Document\dropdownMenu

Change the following line:

.menu {list-style:none; font:16px Arial,Verdana; text-align:center; width:600px; margin:0 auto}

change the width: 600px to a size that fits your width

You can also change the text align in that line. change text-align: center to text-align: left

Qlikview was configured by someone else and I did not see a structure like so:

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Document\ to copy my extension folder.

Instead I created an alternate path from the Qlikview View Management Console like so :

D:\QlikStorage\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions.

and copied the extension to this folder .

But when I open the qlikview document in the server and select on extensions from the document setting ,it doesnot show me any extensions to include.

What am I doing wrong?

Dear Anitha,

I think your should add "Objects" folder and use \QlikStorage\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects

and copy the extension to this folder

See below link:

Hi Anita,.

In Order to add the Extension to your document you need to copy it to your local Extensions in your User Directory.

Cheers

I downloaded the qar file and double clicked on it and dropdownmenu extension got installed somewhere in the server but I am not able to find where...

Good news is the extension now appears from the document settings and I could apply it to the document i was working on but the bad news is I cannot find the css since I do not know on which folder this is installed.I needed that to change the css to include the styles I needed t use with my Document.
