Hi Qlik Community!
First of all sorry if I'm making confusions with what I say, i'm brand new to Qlik.
So I have my access to the Qlik Sense SaaS and I'm willing to connect a Data Source which would be data from files attached to Outlook365's mails.
What I've found is this :
But i'm struggling as I don't have any Web Connector in the Data Source list...
Am I missing an installation or something ? From what I've learn, there is actually ~30 "built-in" web connectors for SaaS and Qlik documentation doesn't mention any installation requirements, just "connect to a new data source -> outlook -> configure"
I've read that on the Desktop version we could install the Qlik Web Connectors package but I can't do this.
Any help is kindly accepted ! 🙂
Regards,
Tom
Hello @Boulanger sorry about the last reply, I have just checked and it is not included indeed in Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows, it is included in Qlik Web Connectors package which is a different installation package:
Many Qlik Connectors are integrated into Qlik Sense and do not require separate installation. Connectors for QlikView and some of the Qlik Sense Connectors must be installed separately. Installation is simple and requires no additional configuration:
Hello jptneumann, I have internally asked to our developers and this feature is in the roadmap for Qlik SaaS, so it will be available at some point! Thank you!
Hello @Boulanger are you using Qlik Sense SaaS enterprise edition? If so, they should appear when trying to add a new connection from the data load editor:
Just bear in mind that the built-in web connectors are only available in SaaS editions of Qlik Sense, so not in Qlik Cloud business:
Hi @Patricia_Silva and thanks for supporting me!
According to your screenshot, that's what I'd like to have on my screen too. I only got what's on the attached screenshot and I'm wondering if :
- I'm not on SaaS version
- I'm on SaaS version and that's unusual to not see those web connectors in the data source list
Regarding my new screenshot do you have any thoughts on why I wouldn't see Outlook or other web sources options as data sources ?
Thanks again!
Hello @Boulanger from the screenshot you attached, I suspect you are using Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows, not Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS. Can you please use the search (from the screenshot) bar and type "outlook"? Does it then appear the connector? Thanks 😊

Hi @Patricia_Silva ,
Qlik Sense SaaS does not have the Web File Connector. How do I load csv files from the internet, web page tables and other files directly from the web in SaaS ? I'm having trouble migrating apps from the onpremisse environment to SaaS for this reason. If I can't do it, my customer may switching to another product that does it.

Jean Paul

Hi all,
There is a workaround for this that @IvanBozov posted to his blog some time ago:
https://www.vizmind.eu/connecting-to-web-files-in-saas-editions-of-qlik-sense/
It's not the ideal way to do it, but it does work.
Hopefully the web connector will appear in Cloud soon. It is a really odd omission, in my humble opinion.

HI @stevedark ,
I have been downloading files using Qlik Application Automation. It has worked well.
Hi @jptneumann
Nice. Can you share what steps you are using to get the file? Does it write to Qlik's own Cloud storage or do you use a third party storage provider?
The thing that the Web File connector does on Sense On-Premise and Sense Desktop is to parse an HTML page and pull out HTML tables of data (I do this to turn the Wikipedia table here to this demo here). I'm guessing this would not work with the Qlik Automation approach? You could, however, grab the flat HTML file and then parse this with a bit of subfield and textbetween etc..
Thank you for sharing.
Steve
