REST data connection to local API via Direct Access gateway

I am trying to fetch data from a REST API locally hosted on a server that is connected to Qlik Cloud using a data gateway. I have entered the API endpoint (IP + URI) in the 'allowed urls' file and made sure that the server firewall is configured correctly. The Qlik data gateway is the only application using the relevant ports mentioned in the following guide Setting up Qlik Data Gateway - Direct Access | Qlik Cloud Help .

When I try to create a REST data connection via Direct Access gateway I get an error saying "Name or service not known.". When I check the gateway logs a warning says that "Connection to local resources is not allowed.".

Have anyone else encountered this problem? What could be the issue? Is it possible to fetch data from a locally hosted API using a gateway?

yeah I don't think that is likely to work since its local, perhaps others will suggest ideas as well.

To clarify, it's local in the sense that it is running on and restricted to the local network of the server the gateway is installed on. Why would that be an issue?

We made some on-prem APIs work in the scenario you described @kempe.
@AnaSilva do you have details that may help us?
