Advantages to configure Qlik Sense to use a dedicated PostgreSQL database ?

Hi,

We are planning the upgrade of our Qlik Sense Enterprise from version February 2021 to May 2022, and we would also like to upgrade the Repository Database from PostgreSQL 9.6 to PostgreSQL 12.5
Our Qlik Sense is deployed on a single node site.

So we are wondering if there are any advantages to move the Qlik Sense database to a standalone PostgreSQL server ?
Or maybe there are no significant advantages for a single node site ?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Leonardo

Hello @leonardo_lenzi , thanks for reaching out.

You are correct; in a single-node environment there is no meaningful advantage for a standalone PostgreSQL server.

The requirements for PostgreSQL are somewhat minimal aside from edge cases in heavily utilized environments. Usually 4 cores / vCPU and 8GB of RAM is sufficient.

See the responses in a Hardware requirement discussion thread for reference:
https://community.qlik.com/t5/Deployment-Management/Hardware-requirements-for-a-PostgreSQL-server-th...

If Qlik Sense is competing with PostgreSQL at the limit of CPU/RAM resources then you may want to consider a standalone deployment.
