Lost 'Create App' button

Hello, I have an on-premise installation of Sense Enterprise November 2023 Patch 1. Suddenly, I no longer have the 'Create app' button.

  • I am enabled as a user and have root admin role
  • I have a professional license, freshly allocated
  • The CreateApp rule is the default and is enabled
  • The node purpose is 'both.'

Additionally, apps exist and are visible in streams, and reload as scheduled without error; but when I try to open one, I get the message: 'the app you specified could not be found.'

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

You write about reallocated licenses.

Did you change the license type for the user(s)? Only users with Professional usage allocation will be able to see the create button. These are also the only users that will see the edit/duplicate option inside an application.

To recap:

  • I have a current Professional license.
  • The share exists, is visible to the service account, and includes the expected folders including 'Apps,' which is populated with app files. The correct path is reflected in QMC.
  • Node purpose is 'Both.'
  • Default CreateApp rule exists and is enabled.
  • Nothing was done to the server itself or in QMC on or around the date the problems started, but our license was updated on that day. The 'Site License Properties' screen shows the updated dates and looks correct.

The issues:

  • Professional users (including me) do not see the 'Create App' button.
  • Apps are visible in the streams, but when clicked, the message appears: 'The app you specified could not be found.'
  • Reloads started failing on the date the license was updated.
  • Log collector fails.

I will mark this as a 'helpful answer' in the hope that it jumps to the top. Thanks

Hi @doherja ,

Have you raised the ticket with Qlik Support for this ?

We had faced an issue somewhat similar to this, which was due to a PG file got corrupt. We resolved this by taking backup of Repo, Dropping the repo, importing a blank repo template & then restoring the repo.

Also I believe @nirav_bhimani has a fantastic tool which can help you with such scenarios in future as well.

Rohan.

Now all of the issues except the Create App button are fixed. The cause turned out NOT to be related to the license. (I had gotten this idea because QMC said the latest license update date was the same date that the other problems began; but I think this was yet another symptom instead of the cause. I think the real license update was a couple weeks earlier.)

It seems the problems started on the day of the CrowdStrike/Microsoft outage in July. A hard restart of all of the servers involved in our install resolved the issue. (I had previously tried only restarting services, with no success.) I am told this had also been done at the time of the incident, but for whatever reason it worked this time.

I will mark this as resolved (although the issue in the title remains), and continue working on the missing Create App button, and I'll post another question if needed.

Rohan, to your question of whether I raised a support ticket: I did enter a ticket, and the only response was two solicitations for professional services--one from Qlik, and one from our partner. Thanks to all who helped.
