Qlik.Printing.Sense.Service stopped working

Running QS1.1 I already had this issue, but after updating to 2.11 it is now a full time problem:

I get this popup (error message) one after the other:

Steps I have already tried:

  • I've uninstalled Sense, reinstalled it
  • Also as Admin
  • Run the service myself
  • Set: ServicePipeTimeout to 5 minutes in Registry

All without any effect.

Looking for a sollution.
(Running Windows 8.1 64bit)

Qlik Sense works just fine by the way, however, this pop-up is more than anoying, as it keeps comming.

Looking at the logs it is probably due to the installation of some Lavasoft product. Could you try to remove them (or at least to temporary disable the lavasoft real-time protection/program) please?

Maybe just stopping/closing the LavasoftTcpService.exe could do it

I believe this is a known issue (being resolved presently) - but I will confirm that.

Do you have Sense Desktop also installed on that machine by chance?

Hi,

this is probably due to Qlik Sense (Server) and Qlik Sense Desktop installed on the same machine. If you want to run Qlik Sense Desktop and you are getting this error when you ran it (as I understood) you should do the following:

1) close Qlik Sense Desktop

2) stop Qlik Sense Printing Service (from services.msc)

3) (just to be sure) delete the file contained in your user's temp folder (open file explorer, type %temp% in the address bar and press enter to find your users temp folder)

4) Run Qlik Sense Desktop again (with Qlik Sense Printing Service still stopped)

At this time printing should working fine (in Qlik Sense Desktop).

Unfortunately at the moment it is not possible to have both Qlik Sense Printing Service (from a Qlik Sense Server installation) and Qlik Sense Desktop running in the same machine at the same time.

Please tell me if this solves the problem.

Excuse the switch of username (Used Jan-Willems account to create the call)

There is no QS-server running on this laptop, just QS-desktop

Also the service is not running, and even when I start it manually it doesn't show in my services...
There does however apear a two new lines in the DOS prompt:
"The service is waiting for certificates"

where before it showed as "Service is running"

Also deleting the temp folders brings no difference.

Any other ideas?

Manually running the Printing.exe executable (without any parameter) will run it in Server mode. Unfortunately you don't have any Server installed and so you can't have it working in that way (it will wait forever for security certificates).

To avoid misunderstanding:

if we speak of Desktop version it's better to avoid "service terminology". Consider it just as a plain windows process (Printing.exe).

If we mean instead a Qlik Sense Server installation where you lauch the service from services.msc (Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Services) then use service terminology.

From now on I suppose that no Qlik Sense Server is installed and that, if it was installed previously, you have restarded your machine after its uninstall and before installing Qlik Sense Desktop (if it is not so please uninstall everything, restart the system, clear the temp folder and then install only Qlik Sense Desktop).

Could you close Qlik Sense Desktop and do a print screen of Task Manager->Details (with all processes visible, i.e. with Task Manager's window maximized)?

Then could you run Qlik Sense Desktop (and not manually Printing.exe), wait for 30 seconds and then do a print screen again?

Indeed. No QS-Server is installed.
And also with te uninstalles and installes of QS-desktop, a restart was performed every time.

Seems strange:
Seeing the program run, while getting the message, it stopped working
(keeps appearing when closed btw)
