Right after upgrading to Qlik Sense June 2020 version, there has been this severe problem, that titles of containers do not show in any app. The title comes up for a very short time (milliseconds) when you open a sheet, but disappears right away.
What on earth could cause this problem? And how can it be solved?
I have not seen anything about this anywhere. The patches to the June 2020 release do not mention anything about this.
I have tried toggling off and on the "Show titles" which makes it work, but only until I go away from the chart. When I come back, the titles have disappeared again. Absolutely strange behaviour.
Good afternoon @blipblopdk ,
I've tried to reproduce this issue and from what I see (on QS June 2020 Patch 2) is that:
I tried also on a September 2019 Patch 10 and there is the same behaviour (I was not sure about the second case).
So I wasn't able to reproduce flickering/title disappearing after few time.
What now bugs me is that I saw that master item visualizations inside a Container cannot be conditioned anymore if you're working on a sheet created on a published app.
To 'fix' your title issue, I would suggest to update to June 2020 Patch 2 and see if the issue is resolved (it happens that not all bugfixes are tracked into the release notes).
If nothing changes, I would suggest to reach Qlik Support.
I hope this helps,
Riccardo
Dear Riccardo,
It is not the title of an object inside the container that is the problem. It is the title on the container itself.
We have upgraded from November 2019 to June 2020, and that has caused the problem. It is an app that was published on November 2019 or earlier release of Qlik Sense, where it worked all fine. So from my point of view, Qlik have made some sort of change that ruin things. I must say that I have seen this happening before when upgrading Qlik Sense that some vizualisations go out of order. In my point of view, that is very poor software development, when the developer ruins things made on previous versions of the software.
We will try installing the patch 2 and see if that helps.
Oh, I see.
We have upgraded from April 2020 to June 2020 and all container titles are still showing.
Another option could be (thinking about what happened in the past with other objects, i.e. pie charts) to duplicate the app, disable and enable the titles again.
Still, it could be tricky and quite long if you have many container objects...

I have been facing a similar issue here. When we load the page, the titles for containers are not being shown (objects created after the upgrade to June 2020). If I do an action in the sheet (filtering, clicking on a button, etc) the titles appear out of the blue. Quite difficult to explain to users that they have to click somewhere first so they can read the titles.
Did the patch release fix that for you?
Best,
Caio Engelhardt
Dear Caio,
I had not realized that making a selection would actually make the title appear - but that is also the case here. And when I then go to the next sheet and back, the title is gone again. Weird behaviour.
The person, who does the upgrading, is on holidays, so I have not had the chance to see if the patch solves the problem. I hope he will update Qlik Sense in the beginning of next week - and that this solves the problem.
Crazy though, that Qlik does not mention this malbehaviour anywhere. In my opinion that is a serious flaw in the product.
BR Kim
We have now upgraded with patch 3 to Qlik Sense June 2020, and the problem has not been solved, unfortunately.
I have also tried switching on and off the "Show title" for the container. That does not solve the problem.
I have also tried creating a new container and copy the content from the former container into the new container, and the same problem persists.
We have made a ticket for this problem with Qlik, and hope that they will fix the problem soon.
Thank you very much for the message @blipblopdk ! Can you please keep us posted if you hear back from qlik on that?
All the best,
Caio Caminoski
Dear Caio,
Apparently, Qlik has now solved the problem, but will not release the fix until the next official release in September while in my opinion it ought to be solved via a patch, since it is a severe fault.
BR Kim
Hello Kim,
Thank you for your response. I haven't yet upgraded to September 2020 version to test it. I have seen in the release notes the following:
QB-2013: Context menu on a container object is not open on the single object page
Conflicts between functions caused that the context menu was not displayed when right-clicking on container object or in a container's child.
Let's hope that is the one we need! I will let you know if I upgrade our server. Please if someone does so it first, it would be great to know if that solves the issue.
All the best,
Caio
