Qlik Sense prompts for user name and password for each login

Hi

I am new to Qlik Sense Development and configuration. We have Qlik Sense installed on Dev and Prod servers in our company. With both servers, whenever I try to open the hub or QMC link, I get prompted for User ID and password. How can I avoid having to type my credentials each time and instead have the qlik use my windows authentication automatically? please advice.

Thank you!

Hello Sumanasa,

Are you referring to Integrated Windows Authentication? IF so I am questioning why one of the answered we marked as Correct, when it really did not answer the question.

For example

If I am logged in to my domain on my workstation and I open IE and go to Qlik Sense - and my Qlik Sense environment is in the same network and my creds and Qlik Sense access are setup - it will auto log me in to Qlik Sense. Is that what you are referring to?

There are certain browser settings that will enable or disable this integration. What browser are you using?

Reference: Integrated Windows Authentication – IEInternals

Hi Mike,

Its nice to see your reply. I have been watching a lot of your videos on Qlik sense and they are great! Yes I am referring to what you mentioned - to be able to open Qlik sense hub or QMC link without having to be prompted to enter my windows credentials. We are using google Chrome in our company. Will everybody in the organization need to make some browser setting changes to avoid being prompted for credentials or is there any QMC settings for this? If we need to do some chrome setting changes, what will those be?

Thank you,

Sumanasa

Hi Sumanasa -

Yes that would be the case - tthis article should help

https://sysadminspot.com/windows/google-chrome-and-ntlm-auto-logon-using-windows-authentication/

If there is some automated policy tool that updates the machines configuration automatically then you would not have to do this on all the machines.

Mike,

I am a bit disappointed that Qlik Sense doesn't have such option in itself. But your suggestion of automated policy tool for all machine configs sounds like a really good idea. Thank you for replying

The other thing to check is what kind of URL you are using.  https://IP/hub is going to be different vs https://hostname vs https://hostname.company.com vs https://friendlydnsalias.company.com

And you may avoid the prompt with some variation here.  I agree with Michael, though (and it isn't a Qlik thing, it is a Windows networking thing), if you want to use NTLM your site needs to be part of intranet zone or trusted sites to avoid the prompt.

Hello Marcus, how can I add this feature to Google Chrome?

Because when the User logs through Mozzila Firefox, it prompts for user/pass but, doesn't give me application data.

When the user logs through Google Chrome, it automatically takes his AD credentials and logs him in? How can I make the User/pass interface prompt in chrome?

Thanks in advance for your answer !!!
