Reload Task Stuck in Starting

Hi All

I have a couple of reload tasks that hang. By this I mean that the reload task stays in status "Starting" until manually aborted. This impacts the other reload tasks that I have in place

I would like your advise on the below:

1. Is this a Qlik sense issue ?

2. What might be causing the reload to remain in the "Starting" status for hours until manually aborted ? Ideally, shouldn't it move to "Failed" ?

3. Is there a way I can counter this i.e. if the task remains in "Starting" for over 30 minutes, I want the task to be aborted automatically

4. Any advise on how to tackle the situation

Hello @itadmin_isa ,

Is the status starting or started?

Is any task log generated for such tasks? The default timeout for tasks is 24h, if not killed manually are failing after 24h?

How you concluded the task is just hang?

Cheers,

Albert

Hi @Albert_Candelario

Thanks for getting back to me. Please find below screenshot. The status of the job does not change for hours

Hello @itadmin_isa ,

Thanks for the picture.

Can you edit the timeout of an specific task for example to 60min and see if the task fails afterwards?

Also is the task script created?

This might help to narrow down the issue.

Cheers,

Albert

Hi @itadmin_isa

¿how this reload behaves when you execute it manually from the hub?

also, from the image you pasted, i can see is "started" and not "starting" or "triggered.

so, it should be executing something, maybe  some heavy load or complex Join with more than 1 field.

also, you can see what is happening if you go to script log folder and look for the APP ID while executing.

C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Log\Script

Hi @RafaelBarrios

When I load the data from the app, data is loaded successfully 8 out of 10 times. This is exactly what is bothering me., why does load data from the app work but the scheduled reload tasks remain in "Started" state

Also, could you explain the difference between Started and Starting. I assume Started implies the data source has been successfully connected to whereas Starting would imply that attempt to connect to the data source is in-progress

Please advise

Hi @itadmin_isa

Started means that is executing loading data, no matter if datasource is connected or not, its just as working doing something.

Starting im not sure if even exists, maybe in old version, but whould be something similar as "Triggered" that means that it was launched

here you have all the possible status for current version

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-admin/August2022/Subsystems/DeployAdministerQSE/Content/Sense_Depl...

i think 8 out 10 its not good also, you need to idenfity where its getting stuck and for that you have the task log or you can use "Trace" in the script to see messages while executing manually.

my first guess would be a complex join (joining tables using multiple fields) or some connection whose timeout was increased.

Best,

Hello @itadmin_isa ,

Do you have any update on the points previously asked by @RafaelBarrios  and me?

This might help to narrow down the possible issue here.

Cheers,

Albert
