Upgrade Qlik Sense May 2022 to May 2023 with standalone PostgreSQL Database

Hello,

i plan to upgrade a Qlik Sense multi nodes environment with a standalone PostSQL Database on a dedicated server (PostgreSQL 12.12).

First of all, I would like to have confirmation about the Qlik PostgreSQL Installer. Can the QPI can upgrade my standalone database to 14.8? In the Considerations items, i can it seems that the QPI cannot be used in my situation :

Can you confirm that I need to use the following procedure to upgrade my PostgreSQL installation ? https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/Qlik-Sense-Enterprise-on-Windows-How-To-Upgr...

In my Qlik Sense architecture, i have my central node, a scheduler node which is failover candidate and 2 consumer nodes. I plan to upgrade all nodes following this order :

1- Upgrade PostgreSQL standalone server

2- Upgrade Central Node

3- Upgrade Scheduler Node

4- Upgrade Consumer Node 1

5- Upgrade Consumer Node 2

Is the order of the steps correct?

Thanks,

regards

Emmanuel

Hello Emmanuel,

The below is the correct document to use. Also make sure to have a complete backup of the servers and files.

Note :
1. The order is correct.
2. Make sure the version of Qlik Sense support the version of Postgres that you are upgrading to.

Regarding the Qlik PostgreSQL Installer (QPI), it's crucial to ensure compatibility with your specific version requirements. If the QPI doesn't align with your situation, following the procedure you've linked to should be the right approach. As for the order of upgrading the nodes, it seems well thought out. Starting with the PostgreSQL standalone server and then proceeding to the nodes in the central, scheduler, and consumer order is generally a good practice to minimize potential disruptions. If you ever need hosting solutions or additional support during your upgrade process, you can explore services offered at https://windowsvps.host/. They might have options that align with your needs.
