Detect / sync Assets panel open-close state when embedding (qlik-embed classic/app)

Hi everyone,

We’re embedding a Qlik Sense app inside a custom web shell (product left navigation in HTML/CSS). The Qlik toolbar still shows Assets / Sheets / Bookmarks, which opens Qlik’s left Assets panel.

Goal: avoid two left panels at the same time. Ideally:

  1. When the user opens Qlik’s Assets panel → collapse our HTML left nav
  2. When the user opens our HTML left nav → close Qlik’s Assets panel

Questions:

  1. Is there a supported API or event (qlik-embed classic/app, Capability API, refApi / Engine API, UI events) to read whether the Assets panel is open or closed?
  2. Is there a supported way to programmatically open/close the Assets panel from the host page?
  3. Can we attach a click/listener to the Assets / Sheets / Bookmarks toolbar buttons from the parent HTML when using qlik-embed? (Assuming classic/app runs in a cross-origin iframe.)
  4. If none of the above is supported, what’s the recommended pattern for embeds that already have their own left navigation?

We checked the docs for qlik-embed parameters, refApi, Capability Navigation API, and Analytics UI events, and didn’t find anything for Assets panel visibility—wanting to confirm with the community before we commit to a design.

Thanks!

Hey @leoraed , what your are trying to achieve doesn't match your embedding approach. You are embedding an entire Qlik app, leveraging all the Qlik UI capabilities (assets/bookmarks panel, sheet navigation, etc.).
There is no way to interact with assets panel from your web app. We are not exposing an API for that and furthermore, classic/app creates an iframe behind the scenes, so you cannot interact with it from JS code due to cross origins domains.

What I would suggest here is to change embedding approach to analytics/sheet (embedding single sheet) and manage sheet navigation and bookmarks from your custom left panels using our APIs.
