TL;DR
I'm 98% sure that I understand the use of this certificate correctly, but would like to confirm with the experts here. Is QlikServiceCluster certificate used:
Context
According to Service certificates documentation:
"The QlikServiceCluster certificate is used for distributing apps from Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows to multi-cloud deployments."
The "multi-cloud" term is confusing me.
I've heard "multi-node" term and know that it's commonly used to describe an on-prem, Qlik Sense site consisting of multiple of servers.
I've also heard "Qlik Cloud" term and know that it is used to when referring to Qlik Sense environments hosted on Qlik-managed infrastructure.
"Multi-cloud" sounds like a mix of both. Meaning, an environment consisting of an on-prem (whether a single node or a multi-node Qlik Sense site) and a Qlik Cloud tenant. But I'm not 100% sure if that what "multi-cloud" means.
In any case, it sounds like QlikServiceCluster certificate is used to secure distribution of apps from an on-prem Qlik Sense site to a Qlik Cloud tenant, but the term "multi-cloud" makes me doubt that that's all that it's used for.
For context, I also haven't had an opportunity to work with on-prom, multi-node Qlik Sense sites so I'm not sure if there's some sort of app distribution process happening within on-prem nodes of a Qlik Sense site that require the use of QlikServiceCluster certificate.
Does anyone know if QlikServiceCluster certificate is used to only distribute certificates from on-prem to Qlik Cloud tenant or is it also used for app distribution across nodes in a multi-node, on-prem Qlik Sense site?
Hi, the 'multi' in multi-cloud is because you can connect the onprem version to different cloud deployments.
Changes in this certificate have an impact in the configuration on the multi-cloud environment.
I found this articles related to that certificate and multi-cloud multi-node environments:

Thanks for the reply! It sounds like the certificate plays the role of securing distribution of apps from an on-prem to Qlik Cloud and/or other cloud deployments (Azure, AWS, etc.). Is that right?
Hi, I don't really know, but yes, it looks as it is used to validate the source of the call is legit, so it can deploy apps in the cluster/node/cloud
