Hi, I am currently working with Qliksense Desktop and I noticed that some cities in my country wouldn't get highlighted in the Area Layer in the Map object, even some smaller cities will be highlighted. Some weird things I noticed are that Qliksense did auto-generated the GeoInfo for the cities that are not highlighted in the data model viewer so I guess they were recognized by Qliksense right..? And also the Map Object will pin point all the cities just fine in the Point Layer but just not in the Area Layer. Just wondering is there any solution for that or this is some of the limitations of the Map object? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
My apologies if I made you feel unconfortable @poklegoguy . This discrepancy might be occurring because Area Layer requires polygon data to draw the boundaries of areas and this data involves defining multiple coordinates that outline the area, more complex. Point Layer probably uses a built-in geocoding service that can automatically resolve city names to their corresponding latitude and longitude coordinates. I suppose that the Point Layer has a dataset of city names with their coordinates that it can use to place points on the map.
No, not at all, no worries. Yes, I think somehow Qlik Sense just doesn't have the polygon data for some of the cities in my country. I managed to make the area layer work by manually import the polygon data of each city. Fortunately, Qlik Sense are able to recognize those polygon data.
Hi @poklegoguy ,
can you share an image to better understand the unwanted behavior?
Pardon me for not feeling comfortable enough to share which country I live in. The problem is that if I use the Point Layer in the Map object, Qlik Sense can pinpoint the location of the cities in the country just fine without me needing to provide the longitude and latitude manually. However, for the Area Layer, Qlik Sense seems to not recognize some of the cities that are pinpointed properly in the Point Layer. This is strange because it means the cities are already listed in Qlik Sense's geo info dataset, doesn't it?
