Data preview hangs when loading from ODBC/ OLE DB connection

When previewing data from ODBC/ OLE DB connections,  if the source table is too large, Add Data wizard/ Data Preview screen hangs that prevent further use of the connection.

This is a known limitation of Qlik Sense. When previewing data from ODBC/ OLE DB connections, Qlik Sense executes a SELECT COUNT(*) query to retrieve the total number of rows, and load the first 100 rows for data preview.

R&D is aware of this issue, and is working on improvement request EN-1006. However, there is unfortunately not yet a fix for this issue because aborting the query cannot be quickly implemented due to the underlying programming platform of Qlik Sense.

Workaround:

The only way to prevent this issue is to understand the table structure from the database side and compose the query in Qlik Sense without using the Add Data wizard/ Data Preview screen.

1. Begin by connecting to the data source with the appropriate database viewer for the database vendor.
2. Get an understanding of the table structure from there.
3. Build the Qlik Sense Load script manually based on your understanding of the available tables.

Hi, I used Data Vizard yes, but everyone using this because this giving us all initial data fields to developing , of course is another way but more inconvenient. So this fix is very HOT, please do this as highest priority. Thank You
