Embedded sheets and snapshots behave differently when a story is exported to PDF or PPT:
- An embedded sheets always shows the selections applied when it was added to the story. The embedded sheet never shows the new selections applied to the app when the story is printed. It will always show the same selections chosen at the moment in which it became part of the story. On the contrary, the appearance is the same shown at the moment of printing. So, if a setting in a chart is changed, for example the color, that change will be shown in the printed story as well.
- A snapshot replicates the appearance of a visualization at the time it was taken on the dashboard, as such it never changes, not event when the original chart changes, since it is as its name suggests a "snapshot" of a visualization. So no new selection nor appearance changes are reflected in the printed story.
In order to keep the correct selections for the embedded sheets, it is recommended never remove the first sheet of a story, as reported in this article.
