This article covers license activation for on-premises versions of Qlik Sense Data Analytics products, for new purchases of cloud services, please follow the on-boarding instructions provided in your email.
Content:
If you purchased a new product, please refer to the tables in Activation Method of Qlik Products to determine if your product supports Qlik Licensing Services (QLS) or legacy License Enabler File (LEF) based activation.
If your products are activated based on Qlik Licensing Service, you can activate it with Signed License Key sent via the license delivery email, or Signed License Definition (if you activate it offline either temporarily or permanently).
If your products are activated based on LEF, you can activate it with license and control number. And if you are activating it offline, you would also need to download the LEF file. Please refer to LEF activation process.
For customers who have renewed their Qlik software, i.e you have an existing key whose linked details have been updated, please take note of the following to avoid any disruptions:
If your renewed products were activated using Signed License Key, you do not require to do anything further. The license definition will be updated to the deployment within 24 hours upon the successful renewal.
Please take note that if you received a new entitlement/license, instead of preserving the same entitlement/license, you would need to follow the new products purchased guide mentioned earlier. However, please take note of the start date of the new entitlement.
If your renewed products were activated using Signed License Definition (ie offline access), you would need to download the latest Signed License Definition and apply to the deployment, only once. Please refer to the guide Updating Signed License Definition upon renewal.
If your renewed products were activated using LEF, there are two steps required to activate your new license. Firstly, your existing LEF end date has been extended by 7 days, follow the process Updating LEF files upon renewal to reapply your license and ensure you pick up the extended LEF.
Once the new license period has started, you will need to again follow the process Updating LEF files upon renewal to reapply your license to pick up the new LEF.
This is because a LEF can contain only one license at a time, either the pre or post renewal content.
Please review the documentation provided with the key and take note of the start date. Your new key is only valid from that start date, attempting to use it early will result in an Invalid License error.
On the start date, you will need to activate your new key
