Previews

• New default theme, "Foundation": A cleaner baseline for spacing, borders, and object styling.
• A second theme, "New horizon": Built on Qlik brand colors, for when you want a bolder look.
• Smoother lines: Line and combo charts now use a monotone curve by default instead of straight segments between points.
• Heavier line weight: Default line thickness is now 3 px in line and combo charts, including forecast lines, and in the point and line plugins on bar and scatter charts.
• Larger data points: Default point size is 8 in line and combo charts, and 12 for the point and line plugins.
• Tidier pie charts: The legend and dimension labels are off by default, so the chart itself carries the story.
• Less visual noise: The hover menu is off by default on KPI, filter pane, and gauge objects.
• Predictable text sizing: Text and image objects default to no responsive text behavior, so type stays the size you set it.
• Theming you control from the theme file: Object padding, sheet-level margin between objects, border width, border color, and border radius are now all theme JSON settings, rather than being baked into CSS overrides.

• How the new defaults look on your real dashboards, not just on a fresh sheet
• Whether "Foundation" and "New horizon" work as starting points, or whether you immediately reach for a custom theme
• The new padding, margin, and border settings: do they give you the control you need in your own themes?
• Density: whether thicker lines and larger points read well on charts with many series or dense data
• Anything that feels different from what you're used to, even small things

• Pie chart legends and dimension labels are off by default now. If your sheets rely on them, turn them back on per object.
• If you maintain a custom theme that leaned on the previous card CSS behavior, you may need to move those values into the new theme JSON settings.

• Canvas-based layout: Place and size content freely on an open canvas when curating a page
• Bring in Qlik monitoring charts so that analytics can sit directly on your landing page.
• A flexible set of widgets: Charts, rich text, and lists or collections.
• Multiple pages: Create pages for the entire tenant, a specific group, or your personal use, all based on space permissions.
• Across the activity centers: Available in Insights, Analytics, and Data Integration.

 

• Whether the canvas and widget set let you build the landing experiences you have in mind, particularly for operational, day-to-day monitoring
• How pages hold up with real content on them, especially pages with several embedded charts
• Whether the templates match the users you curate for, and what's missing
• How pages feel on tablet and mobile
• Anything that feels different from the swimlane home you're used to, even small things

• Public-monitored charts: not supported for applications with section access.
• When accessing pages on Mobile, device. pages are for consumption only. Creating and editing happens in Qlik Cloud in the browser

If you write Qlik script, this one's for you. We're introducing a modern editing experience in the Data load editor and Script editor in Qlik Cloud, bringing IDE-grade features to script authoring and making your day-to-day scripting more efficient and intuitive.

This is one of the first features to go through our new Public Preview program. Your feedback will help shape the experience as we move toward general availability. See "How to activate it" below to get started.

What's new

• Dark mode: The most requested editor improvement, now available for the script editor area.
• Improved syntax highlighting: A revised color scheme for better contrast and readability.
• Code folding: Collapse and expand LOAD statements, subroutines, FOR loops, and other blocks.
• Better code navigation: Go to Definition, Go to References, Peek options, and a minimap.
• Syntax hints on hover: Get inline help and doc links, right where you're working.
• Autocomplete: Get suggestions for keywords, functions, variables, and table names, now in a resizable popover.
• Command Palette: Quickly access editing actions like multi-cursor selection, folding, and word wrap.
• Code refactoring: Use Rename Symbol to rename a table, variable, or other recognized construct across your script.

How to activate it

Feature previews must first be enabled for your tenant, and your tenant admin needs to grant you access via the Public previews permission. All users can see Feature previews in their profile - however, only your tenant admin can activate them.

Once you have access, go to your User profile > Feature previews and activate the "Next-gen script editor" preview feature. From there, you can switch between the new experience and the classic editor at any time using the "Next-gen editor" menu in the toolbar of the Data load editor and Script editor. What to focus on when experimenting

We're especially interested in hearing about:

• How the new code navigation, code folding, and refactoring features hold up on scripts representative of your typical use cases, especially larger or more complex ones
• What you think of the updated color scheme and dark mode
• Anything that feels different from what you're used to, even small things

A couple of things we already know

• Dark mode currently applies to the script editor area. The rest of the Qlik Cloud interface, including the navigation bar and some dialogs, continue to use the standard (light) interface.
• Multi-cursor selection behavior has changed from the classic editor. Check the shortcuts doc for details.

How to share feedback

Use the in-product feedback button, either in the Feature previews dialog or when clicking on the "Preview" badge available in the Data load editor and Script editor.
