Nprinting Session Time Out,Engine ,Aborted

Hi All,

My Nprinting  version Qlik NPrinting September 2020.

i have a few little questions

1- Engine service is in automatic state, but our reports that it stopped by itself and did not work did not work. We have to run it manually and this happens all the time. How does the engine service work automatically?

2- Is it possible to run the task again automatically when it is aborted? We have to run it manually

3- Is it possible to reduce the session timeout of the report? Sometimes it takes too long. I changed it from the extension below, but it didn't work.

C:\Program Files\NPrintingServer\NPrinting\Scheduler

Your help is welcome. Thank you very much.

Hi @krmvacar

NPrinting is an enterprise class tool and needs to be configured and used by trained developers. There is no point directly answering your questions as there might be more important significant issues in your whole environment.

  1. Is your environment supported?
    1. your NPrinting version is September 2020
    2. Is your Qlik Sense version also September 2020 or older? If not then you are running unsupported configuration all together and that would be first thing to fix
  2. You are running unsupported version of NPrinting, Currently oldest supported version is May 2021
    1. since 2020 there were probably 15 releases of new NPrinting versions each improving stability, performance, fixing bugs etc. Upgrade to currently supported version would be one of the first steps I would do
    2. Upgrade of NPrinting would have to be done together with potential Qlik Sense upgrade as versions of both tools have to be compatible to work properly (for example: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2023/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/System-requirem... - for your version of NPrinting this is the supported matrix: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2020/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/System-re...
    3. There is tone of other requirements which MUST be met to allow NPrinting to work properly

Back to your questions:

  1. Services should be set to start automatically. Issues with reports and engine indicate more significant issues with your environment or report design.
  2. Aborted task should run automatically on next schedule
  3. Why do you need to change that setting at all? The fact that your sessions are timing out means that you have poorly designed reports or not enough resources. There is no point changing those settings and instead you should be looking at reasons why you get time outs. It may as well be because of unsupported configuration (if you run in such one).

Summary:

This may be more complex issue and your environment should be checked and reviewed by NPrinting developer/consultant.

@krmvacar

  • Do you mean that the NPrinting service has reach a 'stopped' state?
  • Or do you mean that the NPrinting Engine is in an 'offline' state when viewing the NP engine in the NP web Console.

If you mean point 2, then check this help page and article.

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2022/Content/NPrinting/Troubleshooting/Qlik-NPrinting-Engin...

https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/How-to-Resolve-Qlik-NPrinting-Engine-Offline...

It may be necessary to start a support case if the recommendations maid by @Lech_Miszkiewicz and myself do not help you as we'll need to conduct a more intensive review of your logs etc.

Kind regards...
