Nprinting URL

Dear all ,

I am unable to access below nprinting we console URL from client machine:

https://nprinting:4993/

However, it is perfectly working fine while accessing inside Qlik sense server as well as inside printing server.

The port 4993 is open everywhere.

Faizan

Hi @Tool_Tip

It is not a NPrinting question. It is either port 4993 closed on firewall (not only windows firewall but also maybe restricted in the network) or simply hostname is not resolvable.

By default if required port is opened and hostname is properly registered in domain as required anyway then using https://hostname:4993 or https://FQDN_of_Hostname:4993 should work just fine.

 cheers

Hi,

Check that all Windows services related to Qlik NPrinting are running on its server. From the same server try to connect to the web page.

Be also sure firewall rules are configured as explained in https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/February2024/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Ports.htm#...

Best Regards,

Ruggero

There is no context to your initial questions so many things we consider obvious but I will just clarify that:

  • you are trying to connect from some client computer which is logged on to the same domain as Qlik Sense and NPritnign servers
  • you are stating that there is no firewall (nor windows firewall on any of the computers nor 3rd party firewall blocking required ports
  • you are saying that hostnames are resolvable from the client computer - you can easily ping either IP or hostname and have a response?

If you can connect from the server but not from other computers on the network and above assumptions are ok then it is still the network issue as we already indicated: ports, routing, firewalls, maybe proxies, maybe group policies etc..

https://nprinting:4993/ may not work outside the NPrinting server when:

  • The remote computers trying to access are not in the same domain as the NPrinting/Qlik Sense server.
  • Users computers block ports 4993. (This needs to be checked perhaps with NSlookup or try telnet from desktop computer to the NP server.)
  • DNS not working. Try again to use the IP address of the NP server. To confirm if DNS Name of server resolves to 'NPrinting'  and it's IP address, do NSlookup with command prompt.

Dear Frank,

  • The remote computers trying to access are not in the same domain as the NPrinting/Qlik Sense server  --------------> They are in same domain
  • Users computers block ports 4993. (This needs to be checked perhaps with NSlookup or try telnet from desktop computer to the NP server.) ----------------> I have opened the port 4993 on both client machine as well as on NP server also checked the ping command in both ways and it is working fine. But as you menetioned I tried to run telnet from client machine I am getting below error :

          Tool_Tip_0-1719376187195.png

So I will check with network team if there is still any firewall setting even after opening the port 4993.

  • DNS not working. Try again to use the IP address of the NP server. To confirm if DNS Name of server resolves to 'NPrinting'  and it's IP address, do NSlookup with command prompt ---------------->I will try if not resolution in second step.

Hi,

Check also the log files https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/February2024/Content/NPrinting/AdministeringQVNprinting/Loggin... . In particular the nprinting_webengine.log to see if there are specific error messages.
