Directory Service Connector is offline

Hi,

Im performing a simply distribution and reduce of a report to the Qlikview Server.

However, i keep getting:

"...QDSMain.Exceptions.DscOffLineException: Directory Service Connector is offline..."

The Directory Service Connector IS running. I have tried to change the timeout under:

System - Directory Service Connectors - Active directory

Without any results. Anyone have any idea how I should continue to troubleshoot this error?

Thanks in advance,

br

Paul

This appears to be a domain policy that will not allow a non-domain user to query the AD. I have seen this in the past.

Hi,

Make sure that the QDS service is running.

     You can check this from

Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->Services

     Look for QlikVIew Directory Service.

Did you check the DSC logs for any errors?

Hi Daniel,

To minimize the error sources i have changed the task to only include a distribution (no reduce or anything else). I still get the same error though - DSC is offline. But its not.

The DSC log say:

Hi Bill,

I thought it was the DSC log i checked before, but now i realize there another DSC specific log.

It tells me that the the server is not operational. Considering that the service is up and running this might be a bit confusing. However, i now realize that the setup of the DSC is not correct even though the service is running OK.

Do you know where i can find info about how to setup the DSC?

The DSC log:

....

2/27/2013 14:57:48.1346743 Warning (GenericLDAP.GenericLDAPProvider+CachedDirectoryEntryHolder) Fetching directoryentry LDAP://localhost failed: The server is not operational.

2/27/2013 14:57:48.1346743 Error (DSC.DirectoryFramework) setup path not successful for user '' at 'LDAP://localhost': System.Exception: Setting up connection failed; The server is not operational.

   at GenericLDAP.GenericLDAPProvider.CachedDirectoryEntryHolder.get_Entry()
at GenericLDAP.GenericLDAPProvider.SetupPath(String _path, String _username, String _password)
at DSC.DirectoryFramework.SetupResource(Guid id, String type, String path, String username, String password, IDictionary`2 newSettings)
2/27/2013 14:57:48.1346743 Warning (DSC.DirectoryFramework) Setting up ldapDSP 'LDAP://localhost' wasn't successful: Setting up connection failed; The server is not operational.

It appears that it is trying to look at the local machine for the user. How many connectors do you have setup?

Hi Bill,

Only one.

Do you where to find some more extensive information about the setup of the Directory Service Connector?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Bill,

I have now managed to distribute (and reduce) my report. However, i dont fully understand the underlying problem.

This is what I have done:

I have changed the Directory Service Connect(DSC) service to run under a different account.

The other QlikView services are still running under a account created on the machine itself(that is, a "QVAdmin" user that does not reside in the AD). However, if i change the DSC service to run under my personal account, the task to distribute and reduce for specific AD-accounts works.

Do you have any idea why a locally created user account(with Administrator priviliages) cant be used for the DSC service?

Thanks in advance,

/Paul
